The Co-operative has been committed to driving the development of fairtrade for over a decade: we were the first major retailer to stock fairtrade Cafedirect coffee in 1992 and today we are proud to offer the widest supermarket range of fairtrade products, with over 100 fairtrade products in our stores.

In 2002 we produced our own Chocolate Report, a food crime investigation revealing exploitation in the developing world, and took the ground-breaking decision to convert our entire own brand chocolate range to fairtrade. As a result we doubled the size of the national fairtrade market and we still sell more fair-trade chocolate than all other supermarkets combined.

We know that if other household names were to support fair-trade as we do that the benefits for producers would be huge. That's why we are delighted to feature in STOP THE TRAFFIK's Good Chocolate Guide and why we welcome its campaign for traffic free chocolate.
