STOP THE TRAFFIK: people shouldn't be bought and sold.

Want to say something really special this Valentine's?

Buy Fair Trade - Traffik Free - chocolate and be a part of spreading love all over the world.

Chocolate unwrapped

Thousands of children are trafficked into the cocoa industry. They are forced to endure back-breaking conditions for little or no money and are often taken miles away from the people they love.

We can change this.

Our campaigning in the Netherlands with other organisations has already resulted in a 20% increase in Fair Trade - Traffik Free - chocolate worldwide. In July 2008, Royal Verkade, a Dutch household name and subsidiary of United Biscuits, announced that they will be using 100% Fair Trade cocoa and sugar in their products from the autumn onwards.

By continuing to call upon chocolate manufacturers to only use Fairly Traded cocoa in their products and by only buying Fair Trade chocolate ourselves, we can create a world in which chocolate doesn't leave a bitter after taste.

Join us this Valentine's Day to raise awareness and money, both of which are necessary to continue campaigning on this crucial issue.

Tasty action

We've come up with a few ideas to help you make this Valentine's a day to remember ...

    Image: love hearts.
  • Budget love a la Chocolate: calculate how much you would usually spend on a romantic meal for Valentine's and then try and cook your own for less than a fiver. (See if you can find a recipe to get chocolate into every course.) Send whatever you save to STOP THE TRAFFIK.
  • Chococards: Make your own card with a difference! This one is edible and so simple to make! Step 1: Buy some Fair Trade chocolate, (either individually wrapped mini chocs or a regular bar which you can then break into smaller chunks and wrap yourself). Step 2: Stick your treat onto the front of a piece of card and decorate in whichever way you fancy. Step 3: Add your own message inside! And on the back write:

"Many products in the shops have exploitation and trafficking in their supply chain. This card was made in my own home, without exploitation. To find out more go to www.stopthetraffik.org"

If you're feeling really creative, make a few and sell them to your friends, family and colleagues as part of the STOP THE TRAFFIK Chocolate Campaign. Please add the line "All profits from the sale of the card will go to STOP THE TRAFFIK to help in the fight against the trafficking of people".
