You can make a difference to trafficked people around the world by taking part in Stop The Traffik’s 2008 Home-Grown International Mash-Up Competition

We need your creativity to spread the message that people should not be bought and sold.

We want you to ‘mash-up’ STOP THE TRAFFIK films and make your own viral.

What is a viral?

A viral is bite-sized piece of entertainment that is spread infectiously around the Internet.

Examples include short movie clips, pictures, text and simple games, but there are no rules. The content engages the viewer enough to want to pass it on to other people. Funny virals are the most common form, but they can also be topical, informative, shocking, stupid or a combination of any of these.

1Check out dozens of clips, viral films and STOP THE TRAFFIK music to use as your raw material.

2Download these onto your home PC or laptop and edit with anything from iMovie, Vegas or any number of inexpensive software editing systems.

3Use our baby-stealing ninjas, and mash-em up with our chocolate-feeding circus acrobats. Add in a dash of your own poetry, a smattering of your own music, video commentary, photos, personal stories—then with all the creative power you can muster, make some virals!

4Upload your virals to YouTube

5E-mail us a link to your film at info@stopthetraffik.org. And we’ll save them to our favorites section on our STOP THE TRAFFIK YouTube homepage.

6Keep to the central message of STOP THE TRAFFIK:

  • People Should Never Be Brought or Sold
  • Image: STOP THE TRAFFIK declarationAnd to creatively tell of our need for 1 million signatures to the STOP THE TRAFFIK global declaration, which we will deliver to the United Nations in February 2008. Find out more.

The Top Winning entry will receive an iPod Nano. Also, the winning viral and 5 runners up will be placed on an iPod nano and given to world leaders at the United Nations when we deliver the 1 million declaration in February 2008. Plus we’ll highlight the winning entries on our website and blog.

Deadline for entry is February 1, 2008.

Winners will be judged by our STOP THE TRAFFIK staff, based on artistic and creative merit, the number of hits of YouTube, and the centrality of the STOP THE TRAFFIK message.
