SOUL SURVIVOR 2006
For ten momentous days in July/August, thousands of teenagers and brave youth leaders overtook the Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet for Soul Survivor. Amongst many exhibitors in the Resource Area was Oasis, a member organisation of the STOP THE TRAFFIK coalition, who stocked STOP THE TRAFFIK Declaration Cards and created a Freedom Wall. Oasis volunteers Kat, Vicky, Hannah and Jen spent the ten days working hard to promote Oasis and also to educate people about STOP THE TRAFFIK and ways in which to get involved. Passers by added to the Freedom Wall, taped to the floor, embellishing it with handprints, footprints, comments, signatures and prayers.
Amongst the crowds that visited the Oasis stand, was Brother Andrew, who signed the Declaration Card and pledged his support to STOP THE TRAFFIK, meanwhile popular singer/songwriters Tim Hughes and Ben Cantelon, showed their support by wearing STOP THE TRAFFIK t-shirts! Soul Survivor 2006 was a huge success and saw over 1000 Declarations signed and 40 member organisations join up; if you were at Soul Survivor and didn’t get a chance to sign the Declaration Card or join as members then please do so now...
