ACT – Our Aims

Active Communities against Trafficking

We believe that the best way to fight human trafficking is through community awareness and action.

What if you knew the signs of trafficking and that it was happening in your community?

What if someone – a teacher or a friend had asked Lucy about the older boys who picked her up after school and gave her expensive presents? If someone knew what to look for, maybe she wouldn't be working on the streets in a foreign country.

What if someone had noticed the arrival of young boy at their neighbour's house? What if they questioned why he didn't go to school, was never allowed out and stayed up late every night cleaning? Maybe if a neighbour had know the signs of trafficking for domestic servitude he would have found his freedom.

These true stories highlight the fact that trafficking starts in one community and ends in another.

Become an Active Community against Trafficking (ACT) to increase understanding of the issue and create an environment where it is harder for traffickers to hide themselves and their victims.

To assist you in your quest for a traffik free community, ACT will equip you to:

  • know the signs of trafficking and how to report it
  • become advocates for those hidden or vulnerable
  • raise awareness and educate others about human trafficking, how it affects them and what they can do about it
  • campaign and lobby for local, national and international change
  • network people in your town – from other concerned community members to professional agencies
