These graphs reflect those who have received a ‘conclusive grounds decision' and have been identified as victims of trafficking through the National Referral Mechanism, the national framework that supports victims of trafficking.
There will be other victims of trafficking who have not been identified, or who have chosen not to be referred through the NRM.
Whilst these graphs do not provide a complete picture as to the scale of trafficking in the UK they illustrate some of the trends and patterns of trafficking in the UK in terms of nationality and gender and the situations of exploitation people are trafficked into.
You can see more detail around this data on SOCA's website.
PLEASE NOTE: These figures do not represent how many children are trafficked and identified in the UK. A child is referred and supported through their local authority and a child does not need to go through the NRM and be identified as a victim to receive support. The NRM does not gather complete data on child trafficking cases which the local authority is responsible for.
